Progress on the road upgrade work is well underway on the island.
This was confirmed by the Project Manager of China Railway First Group-ChuanChuan.
“Now we are constructing the footpath from the Airport to the New Zealand High Commission, we have from the airport so far 800 meters,” he said.
ChuanChuan also provided an updated on other projects in other parts of the island.
“For this project, the main job is to have footpaths, the last thing is the traffic signs and street lights. Now for the third pavement, we have finished from Hakupu to near Avatele, total is about 8 kilometers.”
He states one of the challenges is the lack of aggregate as this affects their Project progress but with the assistance of the Utility Department, supplies should be brought in by this week. A total of 42 workers are currently working on the road project.
The Project is expected to be completed by the end of October next year.
