Last week the government confirmed the arrival on the island of its news barge. The barge called Toa He Tahi Alofi was built in Nadi, Fiji and will help with the work of unloading the cargo boat.
According to the Office of the Minister of Infrastructure, the procurement of this custom-made barge was one of the projects delayed due to the Covid 19 pandemic.
The barge was built by a Kiwi company based in Nadi and cost the government more than $850,0000.
BCN News understands that a blessing ceremony will be held in due course now that the barge has arrived.
