The Hakupu village showday which took place last Saturday saw a great number of locals and tourists.
There were a variety of food stalls ranging from barbecue to traditional umu food and desserts.
An impressive display of agricultural produce, arts and handcrafts of the men and women, and coconut crabs were also shown.
The formal part of the programme began with the Hakupu village flag raising followed by speeches from village council representatives, government officials and diplomats including Hakupu Chair Pasifika Mautama, Premier Dalton Tagelagi, New Zealand High Commissioner Helen Tunnah and Australia High Commissioner Louise Ellerton.
Following the formalities in the morning, was the display of the largest coconut crabs. The winning coconut crab of the day went to Denzel and Te Pui Tomailuga weighing at 2.92 kg.
Followed after, was the baby show for infants aged from 1 month to 2 years old.
Great performances from the children of Hakupu and the Hakupu womens group Afi Kākā. The village showday concluded with the mens traditional ta tika and the womens olo fua niu coconut bowling before the rain took over the rest of the afternoon.
Despite the gloomy weather, it was a great day to see the people come together and enjoy the festivities the village of Hakupu had for the day.
