It is that time of the year when scholarship students will return to their studies and the new students begin their tertiary education journey.
The two main scholarship providers on the island are the governments of New Zealand and Australia.
This year there are three Manaaki NZ scholars about to depart for their studies. Tamarina Sionetuato, Jorja Tuhipa and Phoenix Talagi are all heading to universities in New Zealand this year.
The Australian Awards Pacific Scholarships have one new student, Tom Vaitolo Vaha heading off to study at the University of the South Pacific in their Alafua Campus in Samoa this year.
According to the Australian High Commission’s Facebook page, Tom Vaitolo Vaha will be studying a Bachelor of Agriculture Science.
Also returning to their studies at the USP in Suva, Fiji this year are teacher trainees Kathleen Sionetuato and Jemma Paka, along with two other students Chamberlain Pita and Yasmine Pavihi-Sioneholo.
Applications for the 2024 Manaaki New Zealand Scholarships are now open and will close at midday NZT on Tuesday 28 February 2023 for all eligible and potential applicants from Niue.
