Alan Tano Puleosi is one of the International Technical Officials for Weightlifting at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Mr. Puleosi was also a technical official for weightlifting at the recent Northern Marianas 2022 Pacific Mini Games which took place in mid-June this year.
He is the only Niue person accredited as an International Technical Official to referee at international sporting events such as the commonwealth games and Olympics, and has had fifteen years worth of experience in refereeing for weightlifting.
BCN News spoke with Mr. Puleosi last Saturday and he shared that the Commonwealth Games is a whole different experience compared to the Pacific Mini Games.
Day one for weightlifting began last Saturday 30th of July and the final day will end tomorrow Wednesday with three sessions, says Puleosi who is one of the referees for the sessions.
Puleosi is a referee for Group 1 out of three groups and is one of the few technical officials chosen from the Oceania region.
Mr. Puleosi also informs BCN News that the Commonwealth Weightlifting Federation Electoral Congress will commence on Wednesday this week.
Mr. Puleosi will depart Birmingham on Thursday night transiting through Malaysia and will arrive in New Zealand on Sunday morning.
