NISCGA President confirms Team Niue to the Birmingham Games

The Niue team to the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games was confirmed by the Niue Island Sports Commonwealth Games Association (NISCGA) President Maru Talagi this morning. 

The team is made up of a total of 29 members; 15 athletes and 14 officials.

The list also included supporters Martha Peauvale, Timur Kabaklarli, Sikatupe Nosa, Anzac Chapman, Lapanui Tapatuetoa and Dr Dean Rex. 

President Maru Talagi told BCN news that the team on the island will be departing to New Zealand on the 12th of July for a week. 

The athletes will then leave New Zealand on the 22nd of July to Birmingham followed by NISCGA President and his spouse on the 25th of July.  

The team will look to spend two weeks in Birmingham for the Commonwealth Games before returning on the 16th of August, says Mr. Talagi. 

President Maru says that he is hoping for Team Niue to gain recognition and bring home the fruits of their labour.
