Tony Kose Edwards is the Chef de Mission for Niue to the Birmingham Commonwealth Games which will be held in July this year.
Mr. Edwards told BCN news on Monday this week that they are still finalising the Niue team for the games. He said that at this stage they are still working on the list provided by the sporting codes attending, which are Lawn Bowls, Boxing, Athletics and Weightlifting.
Tony Edwards says that they are working closely with Niue Lawn Bowls at this time. Mr. Edwards is aware that Niue Lawn Bowls is working with the Niue-New Zealand Lawn Bowls for potential players to join their team. However, the Lawn Bowls team is still not finalised yet.
Ramsi Edwards for Weightlifting and Tukala Tagelagi for Lawn Bowls are said to be Niue’s two potential youth representatives to attend the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. According to Tony Edwards, these two young athletes have not yet been confirmed for the games but both are potential candidates for the Commonwealth Youth Games 2023 next year.
Mr. Edwards says that they are hoping to finalise the team by the end of this month.
