The number of active Covid-19 cases in MIQ remains at four after today’s day three PCR tests according to a government press release issued tonight. Aside from the four active cases, all other passengers returned negative COVID 19 test results this evening.
Premier Dalton Tagelagi says that the four active cases detected after day one tests on Tuesday remain well in MIQ.
“The four positive cases remain isolated in the MIQ quarantine facility and are monitored closely by Niue’s health officials. All active cases remain asymptomatic,” says Premier Tagelagi
The frontline workers also returned negative COVID19 test results today.
All passengers in MIQ will be tested again on day seven and health officials will continue to monitor them including the two infants under three.
Meanwhile, the first case from the flight on March 6th is recovered and the close contact remains well and will complete their 28 days in isolation next week.
The island is now into two days in Alert Code Yellow since the four cases were detected on Tuesday.
Code Yellow means business as usual while the government will continue to monitor the cases in MIQ to ensure the virus is contained and hope to eliminate it in MIQ to avoid community transmission.
