After more than a year or fifteen months of working with just one news producer/reporter the national broadcaster BCN this week welcomed a young new reporter to the team.
Sariah Magaoa is the youngest of Timothy and Faso Magaoa’s five children. She says that her goal in life is to do the best she can and to inspire the youth to aim higher.
“My goal is to do the best that I can every day and to also inspire and empower our Niue people especially our youth to aim higher than the moon and stars because there is no time like now to do what everyone else would think to be impossible.”
“My greatest aspiration in life is to ‘live life to the fullest with no regrets and ‘to always do things that make you happy’, says Sariah Magaoa.
Sariah is a high achiever whose parents are from the villages of Lakepa and Hakupu.
In 2018 she was the Dux recipient of Niue High School and the following year she was awarded an NZAid scholarship to study at the University of Auckland.
At the end of last year, she completed her Bachelor of Arts Degree double major in Politics and International Relations and Pacific Studies.
“I have successfully completed three years of my degree and have now returned to work for my country and serve my people”.
BCN General Manager Trevor Tiakia is very pleased to welcome Sariah to the team.
“I’m very pleased to welcome Sariah to the BCN team and look forward to working with her and helping her develop her reporting and media skills. She brings with her social media skills and her enthusiasm and energy is a welcoming addition to our small news team” says BCN General Manager Trevor Tiakia.
Sariah will be working under the tutelage of Senior Producer Reporter Esther Pavihi.
Since starting this week, Sariah Magaoa has shown confidence behind the microphone and in front of the camera.
She will be presenting the BCN news bulletin on Thursday this week.
