The Bank of the South Pacific (BSP) recently returned to the Niue government unclaimed monies of NZD$118,000.00.
These monies belong to individuals, businesses and organisations from 172 old BSP accounts.
BCN news obtained a copy of the list of these 172 entities showing that most of the accounts belong to church organisations, NGOs, some businesses and a number of individuals, some of whom are deceased or have moved overseas.
The government has forwarded these monies to the Niue development bank to manage the application and disbursement process.
Niue Development Bank officials say that the funds range from around $20 to the highest of around $10,000 in one of the unclaimed accounts.
They have advised that any funds not claimed or unable to be claimed under the process in place will be returned to the Niue government.
The Niue Development Bank says that a list of these 172 entities is displayed at the Bank. The list is also made available to all village councils and the Niue government and Niue Chamber of Commerce email listing.
If these monies are not claimed or unable to be claimed under the process in place by 30th November 2021, those funds will be returned to the Financial Secretary of the government.
