Niue High school received 30 reconditioned Lenovo laptops from the Ikimotu family of Auckland, through the help of Carl Godsmark who moved to Niue a few years ago.
The Ikimotu family visited Niue in October last year on a family holiday and decided to do something to give back to the island. According to Carl Godsmark the family decided to use their professional connections in the IT sector in New Zealand to secure used laptops.
They were given thirty laptops which were then upgraded by his nephew Emil Drollet who is an IT tech.
Through Carl, they were able to secure freight support from Shop Exports and the laptops were delivered to the school last week.
Niue High School posted their appreciation to the family for the donation of laptops on their Facebook page over the weekend saying that they are honoured and privileged to have the support of the community always.
According to the school, the laptops will be used by the students in classes for their academic work and is much appreciated in this day and age where digital technology is a major focus in the school.
The Ikimotu and Godsmark family are from Avatele and Alofi.
