The Ministry of Infrastructure want to assure the residents of Alofi South that work is being done to address water problems that have been an issue for several weeks now.
Problems with water pressure has been an on-going issue for some areas in Alofi for months now.
Last week a notice from the Utilities department of the Ministry said that the areas affected are Paliati, Tuila, Huihui and Fonuakula. Niue high school had to close early on Wednesday last week because there was no water.
Andre Siohane the Director General of the Ministry told BCN news in a statement that they were working on addressing first the water problems in Paliati and Tuila area to ensure the schools remain open. School holidays begin next week.
Siohane said that the water team have now completed that work and will move back to Huihui and Fonuakula area.
Residents of Huihui have been experiencing low water pressure for at least two months now especially in the mornings.
The department of utilities is asking everyone to report any leaks in and around their homes to the water division.
