Niue signs half a million-dollar grant agreement with the Asian Development Bank

This morning at the Fale Fono the Premier Dalton Tagelagi signed the agreement with the Asian Development Bank which provided a grant of 500 thousand US dollars from the Asia Pacific Disaster Fund.

The grant is given to help the efforts of the Niue government protect the people of Niue from COVID-19. The grant is part of the funding support from the government of Japan to help ADB member countries strengthen their capacity to contain the spread of COVID 19.

The signing of the agreement was witnessed by the three cabinet ministers Crossley Tatui, Minister Mona Ainuu and Minister Sauni Togatule.

Also present is the Acting Secretary to Government Gaylene Tasmania, Financial Secretary Doreen Siataga and Acting Niue Development Bank Manager, Vaine Pasisi.

A press release from the Premier’s Office this morning said that the Government of Niue acknowledges the assistance provided by ADB to support Niue’s COVID-19Emergency Response and the support provided by the Pacific Department of the Asian Development Bank in Suva.

Niue became the 68th member of the Asian development bank in March last year.
