The Niue Disaster Council for COVID-19 has made a submission to cabinet to downgrade from code yellow to blue.
Niue had no reported cases of Covid-19 and remains free of the virus.
The country had upgraded to code yellow in March which is an alert level and response to any imminent threat, delaying the widespread of the disease transmission.
Code blue deals with keeping the virus out and delaying the entry of the disease into the country.
The 14-days mandatory quarantine is set to continue until August 2020 however the Council states these measures will be reviewed and revised. Further information is to be communicated the week commencing 1st June 2020.
The limit of 26 passengers to remain in place until August 2020. The mixture of passengers has been recommended and the outcome will also be communicated on the week commencing 1st June 2020.
The Council met on Wednesday the 27th May 2020 and has submitted these measures for cabinet consideration at its meeting on Thursday the 28th May 2020.
Meanwhile, members of the public are encouraged to continue practicing good hygiene such as washing your hands, practicing social distancing, and looking after each other.
