Minor charged for drunk and disorderly behavior at Commercial center
A minor has been charged by police for drunkenness and disorderly behavior.
Police state they received complaints of people drinking and being disorderly at the Commercial center in Alofi.
According to police, these activities are reported to be occurring on weekends after the bars and clubs close.
Members of the public are being reminded that drinking and drunkenness in public is an offense under section 218 of the Niue Act 1966.
Over the past week, police have increased patrols in the area and one arrest was made when a minor was found to be intoxicated in public and was causing disturbances. The minor was placed in custody at the Prison farm overnight and was later released to the parents.
