Police investigates quarantine breach

Police are investigating a case in which a person breached quarantine restrictions.

The Niue Police responded to a report of a breach of the quarantine location at Homofiti, Tamakautoga on Saturday 25th April.

It is alleged that a person in the quarantine area breached the perimeter and was seen in another village. Police were able to obtain sufficient evidence to determine a violation did occur.

That subject has since been moved to the Prison farm to complete the 14 days quarantine and will be released on Sunday the 3rd of May.

This case remains under investigation and charges are expected to be filed once completed.

Police stated they would like to thank all of those who reported the breach and provided evidence.
