A man has been charged with firearm offences under the Arms Act.
According to the Niue Police Department the man is charged after an
investigation into an incident that happened in the village of Toi last
month.
The Police said that they had completed their investigation of the case
involving the shooting of dogs at a property in the village of Toi.
The Police Inspector told BCN news that this case will be heard at the
next sitting of the Niue High Court.
BCN news received a statement from the family whose dogs were shot. They
said that 4 of their dogs were shot and two of them died, the other two were
left with serious gun-shot injuries.
The Inspector of Police told BCN news that Niue police will continue to caution registered gun owners on the island to respect the law and not to take the law into their own hands.
