Niue’s Meteorology Communication Officer Robert Togiamana has been awarded by the Australian Bureau of Meteorology for his work in the climate and ocean support program for Pacific Islands.
This is the second time Robert has been awarded as he was awarded last year.
Robert Togiamana said it was an honor to be awarded and is very grateful.
The award was received by the Director of Meteorology Rossy Mitiepo at the ceremony held in the Cook Islands on behalf of Robert last week.
The Program known as COSPPac aims to enhance the capacity of Pacific Islands to manage and mitigate the impacts of climate variability and tidal events.
The Australian Bureau of Meteorology works with stakeholders in the Islands to build tools that can forecast and report on climate, tides and the ocean and work with them to determine how best to communicate this information to communities, businesses and Governments.
