The wet weather didn’t stop people from attending the Makefu showday last Saturday.
The event was opened with a prayer by Reverend Chris Lagiono and opportunities to speak were given to NZ Deputy High Commissioner Andre Van de Walt as well as the USP Director and two new professors to explain the opportunities available at Niue’s USP campus.
The highlight was the trademark Uga Race which kept the crowd entertained with many encircled to see the race. This would be the only uga race worldwide and is only held in Makefu. This lead the remaining line up of activities enjoyed by those in attendance.
The village extended their gratitude to the many that attended despite the weather and welcomed their support for next year’s showday.
